Just wanted
to celebrate my first successful New Beginnings last night. It
turned out AMAZING. We used The Steadfast like a Rock theme from
Latter-day Village I
believe. It was all in Black and white and looked elegant. We had
each of my presidency so something. My 1st councilor talked about
being steadfast like a rock, my 2nd councilor introduced the new
beehives. And my PP specialists I have 2 shared the PP program. I
shared the story of how the
PP
program came to be. But truly the Hit of the evening was not the
leaders.. The girls were such stars. Each girl was assigned
something. One shared what the 2008 mutual theme meant to her.
Another shared the YW Theme saying in a personal way, “ I am a
daughter of a heavenly father that loves me...." Then she had all
stand to recite. Some of the other girls were assigned a value to
share what it meant to her. This was filled with wonderful stories
and the spirit was so strong. Four of our girls sang "If the Savior
Stood Beside me" and it was wonderful.
Then we showed the DVD presentation from
Jenny Phillips and I gave
out a little gift for each girl with the 2008 Jenny Phillips Cd and
Rock candy.
For dessert
we had angel-food cake, strawberries and whip cream - all homemade
. We had Black party dishes, napkins and black and white forks. We
also served Shirley temples which was a HUGE hit. One detail that
was also really loved was I made a huge collage of black and white
photos of all my girls from the past year. They loved the collage.
All the pictures were matted on black card-stock and we put it on
the back of a moving chalk board. It filled the whole thing With
the "Steadfast and Immovable" Logo at the top. Afterwards I moved
the pictures onto the wall of our YW room.. it looks so great!! the
Girls
love looking for themselves in pictures.
