How do we stand strong? We must stand strong against the rapid forces of this  world, to not be swept away in the current of destruction that flows before us each day in the programs we watch, the movies we view, or the material we read.

The First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve have approved the following as the Mutual theme for 2008: "Be steadfast and immovable, always abounding in good works" (Mosiah 5:15).

Leaders are encouraged to introduce the theme in December 2007. Young Men and Young Women leaders are also encouraged to emphasize the theme in Mutual opening exercises and other youth activities during 2008. Additional resource material regarding this theme will be available in the New Era and Liahona magazines at the beginning of 2008.

President Joseph F. Smith states that those who "stand firm in the face of overwhelming opposition" are "instrumentalities of a higher law and a divine purpose."
