We had the best time and things turned out so great. Thank you for
all your help and ideas. We did make the goblets, we had each girl
decorate two and
used them for the Royal Coronation of Princesses (we
had the moms come for dinner one night and they crowned their
daughters and said a little about them)
It was very cool, it was also
a surprise as we had not told the girls that the moms were coming,
only that they had special guests (some girls thought the YM
- oh
yeah, we are having the YM out here in the woods? :-) . For the
dinner
we did chix legs, cheese cubes stuck on purple swords, grapes, scone
bread -
it was great. We had decorated the roof over the tables at
the camp ground with purple tulle and hung lanterns around. It was
wonderful. As a craft we
had the girls each make a tiara which is
what the moms crowned them with. We also had a Royal Ball one night
with the YCLS teaching the girls line dances -
fun, fun.
Around camp we had painted cardboard dragons (large) and had them
sitting in trees around, etc. We also had an area roped off with
"caution" tape where
we had put a skull and bones (from an elk) and
made a sign about dragons in area and said that the DSI
(Dragon Scene Investigators) had been there
investigating. One of our
leaders made a huge castle front, it was about 12 feet long with
two turrets on each end then the middle section with an arched
doorway
where we walked to and from the tents to the "crystal palace"
or main area. We named things like the toilets were the royal
thrones, kitchen was
the scullery, lake was the moat, area around was the dark enchanted forest, the lost and found was a cage called the dungeon to
name a few. We also
painted some big rocks to look like frogs and we had them sitting around (one in the bathroom) with little
gold crowns on their heads. It was a great camp
and I think our
girls had a blast. We also made crystal slippers for a craft (flip
flops with crystals glued on them. It really was a lot of fun. One of
the
leaders read the girls a bedtime story every night about a princess, check
out the story Paper Bag Princess - its really cute. For our
certification of plants,
etc, we had an evil witch give the tour and
she added random stuff like poison apples, frog princes, dragon dung,
etc., she was great but almost sweated to
death in the black dress and
hat :-)
