At our stake leadership training, the Stake YW Pres., Jerrilynn,  introduced the theme by having a jar of pennies next to a poster with the words "A penny for your thoughts"

She explained that when she was trying to figure a cute way to introduce this theme she was taking a walk and found a penny that was laying on the ground and it was dirty and had lost its shine. She showed the dull penny to the class and began to talk about how if we are always negative, or surround ourselves with the filth of the world, pretty soon we too will lose our shine as did this penny.  She tied it in all very well about remaining virtuous in thought and deed... I can't remember all the details, but with the idea "A Penny for your thoughts" you can get really creative!

(This could turn into a great year long activity that would culminate with YWIE - YW Connection :-)
